🔧 Patch notes and official CIG announcements
CIG released Alpha 4.10.1 on the PTU channel last night (VERSION 4.10.1-PTU.12578875), open to all waves on US servers, with long-term persistence preserved: no wipe to test this build. Focus is on stability, fixes, and a new event.
Alpha 4.10.1, PTU patch notes (September 4).
New Event: Orison Relief Support
Following the Nine Tails attack on Orison, Crusader Industries launches a reconstruction initiative. Players chain contracts via mobiGlas to earn points on a shared reward scale:
- Construction Assistance (Cornerstone Developments): collect and deliver construction resources to Orison or Seraphim Station.
- Medical Aid Transport (Covalex): pick up medical supplies and iodine from New Babbage or Port Tressler and deliver them to Orison or Seraphim.
- Medical Aid Delivery (Ling): same principle, from New Babbage or its rooftops, to Orison or its rooftops.
- Manufactured Assistance (Cornerstone Developments): manufacture and deliver a batch of prototype thrusters.
- Ship Ambush (Foxwell): intercept and destroy hostile ships threatening supply lines.
- Space Attack Waves (Foxwell): defend against waves of hostile ships.
- Complete Elimination (Foxwell): clean out outposts of the last Nine Tails in FPS combat.
Notable point raised by the community (see Reddit section): rewards are only distributed as blueprints to unlock on the shared scale, three FPS weapons and three armor pieces, never the finished object directly.
Fixes and tracking fixes
- An object limit was added to the cargo elevator platform to prevent simultaneous unstocking of too much cargo, a source of server instability.
- Tracking fix: inactive armistice zones at Orison, which left players freely attackable; an optimization of the zone system was applied and the situation remains under monitoring.
- Tracking fix: Tactical Strike Group Full Strike missions blocked at the initial "Go To Objective" phase.
- Tracking fix: Drake Clipper hull insensitive to damage over most of its surface due to multiple geometry proxies; doors below now detach correctly once destroyed.
- Tracking fix: ground vehicles not entering soft death state when severely damaged, continuing to function or exploding outright.
- Tracking fix: ships delivered to personal hangar landing poorly on elevator platform, causing landing gear to pass through the ground upon detachment.
- Tracking fix: incorrect aUEC per SCU price for fuel in refueling contract details.
- Tracking fix: refueling introduction missions incorrectly requiring quantum fuel instead of hydrogen only.
- Tracking fix: Odyssey II undersuit missing its necksock, leaving a gap between helmet and collar.
- Tracking fix: missing weapon parts in loot at DC Delving and elsewhere.
This build also integrates all hotfixes already applied to Live for 4.10.0, including the crash fix related to the latest Nvidia driver.
📧 Emails
Official email sent by CIG in the last 24 hours:
🔭 Week's Sneak Peek
This week's mystery image, soberly captioned "Follow the Red Arrow", hints at a new armor piece. As always with Sneak Peek, interpretation should be taken with caution: CIG never confirms anything on this intentionally enigmatic visual, and the community will have fun speculating about its use and manufacturer by next week's edition.
Weekly Update: Ship Showdown Champion
In its September 4 newsletter, CIG confirms that the RSI Perseus wins Ship Showdown 2956. Owners of this gunship will receive a thematic manufacturer jacket, and the Final Four as a whole will receive a special paint and a challenge coin, all to be distributed at this year's IAE.
The email also covers this week's news:
- Alpha 4.10: Siege of Orison, recalled as the current patch.
- The PU Monthly Report for August 2026, already covered in video by the French-speaking community (see YouTube section).
- A stop on the Bar Citizen World Tour this Friday, September 4 at the Stoup Brewery in Seattle, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. local time.
- The new Kruger S-65 Stingray ship, with a "Kruger" Virgil Tailwind flight suit offered for any Warbond pledge or ship pack including the Stingray.
- September subscriber perks: decorative displays to showcase pieces and weapons, and MISC vehicles of the month designed for the upcoming Pirate Week.
- Community MVP of the week: a 3D-printed Star Kitten helmet by AngryGiantRobot, given to a community event organizer.

💬 Spectrum: synthesis of most discussed topics
The general forum is bustling today around a single major subject: FPS combat balance since the latest adjustments. No CIG message identified (is_cig) in the threads surfaced today: these are only players debating, often with a critical tone, sometimes weary about the state of the persistent universe.
TTK and armor divide
Time To Kill concentrates most of the forum's energy. The thread The TTK thing is causing drama, and rightfully so, because... sets the tone, relayed by summaries like New TTK/TTD summarized and TTK Balance makes little sense. Follow-up on the internal playtest of evolutionary TTK also gets reactions in Response to the evo TTK playtest (46 votes, 45 replies). The heart of the debate is about armor: should it block damage from light weapons against large ships, as defended in A LF pilots breakdown on why armor gating large ships from a lf doing hull dmg is 100% needed, continued by Addressing Ballistics Via Armor. Another thread, The Death of Soft Death, regrets that the very principle of soft death is fading behind these new settings.
Flight model and instancing, two projects under tension
The community still awaits the new flight model announced long ago: Where is the new flight model? gathers 197 votes and 70 replies, and The flight model sucks - The new one will likely too! prolongs skepticism about the coming version. On instancing introduced in 4.10 (the very subject of The Lord Tyler's video today), opinions diverge: Instancing is not the issue! defends the system with 118 votes, while 4.10 Instancing Could Finally Fix Party Rewards sees it as an avenue to better distribute group rewards, and Instance vs Server meshing questions coherence with coming server meshing.
A feeling of a universe running out of steam
A more melancholic vein also runs through the forum. The PU Feels Dead totals 151 votes and 227 replies, a mass of feedback that says much about ambient frustration, in the same vein as The Galaxy Is Slowly Losing What Made It the Galaxy (tagged "Concern") and Siege of Orison is the Antithesis of Star Citizen, which reproaches the event for betraying the game's spirit. A hint of nostalgia also arrives with Old Skybox, heavily commented with 193 votes around the old starfield regretted by part of the community. Finally, Why are monthly reports regularly excluding the Core Gameplay section? points to a recurring absence in CIG's monthly reports, with no official response to date.
On a more positive note, Ship Showdown 2956 is over echoes the official confirmation of the Perseus's coronation received by email the same day.
💬 Reddit r/starcitizen (by theme, general sentiment)
The subreddit's mood is noticeably lighter than on Spectrum: between memes, fan art and nostalgia, the Perseus's crown puts everyone in a good mood, even if Siege of Orison bugs and the content of the Orison Relief Support event frustrate some players.
The Perseus coronation and Ship Showdown follow-up
The Perseus's victory, confirmed the same day by CIG, continues in the background in several threads: two posts request that the special Perseus paint, or a variant, become the "Best in Show" skin for the Ironclad, like here and there. On a completely different ship, Maybe StarWhere will come with a Minuteman uniform? speculates on cosmetic accessories for a future announcement, and Liberation relaunches the recurring debate about the Liberator's release date, between IAE and Invictus, without any official source confirming it.
Siege of Orison and the charity event divide
The new Orison Relief Support event, still in PTU at the time of collection, already grinds gears on Reddit: The 4.10 orison relief event is also only blueprints yet again regrets that rewards are only plans to unlock, an observation that matches exactly the content of today's official patch notes. On combat itself, Tried SoO and everyone fell through the floor on the barge and boss and lost everything details a session ruined by collision bugs and inventory loss, testimony that echoes skepticism already expressed on Spectrum about this event.
Fan art, nostalgia and memorable gameplay moments
Between two controversies, fan art always pays off: a briefing room added to the Polaris in this montage, a visual comparison with Star Trek that amuses the community, or this return to basics from a player diving back in after four to five months away in Guys What's Happened (things are good!) and pleasantly discovering much more responsive NPCs than before. A thread also recalls, with pictures, that twelve years ago Chris Roberts was already answering Reddit questions about Caterpillar modularity:
A thread digs up a Chris Roberts answer twelve years old about ship modularity (September 4).
On the amusing anecdote side, a player shares coming across a graveyard of 25 stationary ships in Man in Polaris discovers 25 stationary ships, acts accordingly, and another shares an improvised exfil like a teleportation in a thread with a colorful title. The request to be able to walk around in cities without heavy armor, in Can we normalise not wearing armour in ports/cities?, also illustrates a recurring roleplay comfort concern.
Finally, two threads mention Squadron 42 in an ironic rather than informative tone, one wondering if today's news might push a 2027 milestone, the other joking about an April Fools' release date: neither is based on an official announcement, to be treated as pure speculation.
🕵️ Leaks & Datamining
Unofficial content from community datamining: subject to change, never confirmed by CIG.
Two discoveries stand out from the monitored community channels. First, a weapon adjustment spotted in the latest build files: the C-788 cannon's ammo count may have gone from 270 to 450 shots. Next, a cosmetic find related to in-game Halloween (the "Day of the Vara") with a skull helmet spotted in PTU 4.10.1 assets:
Skullcap Helmet extracted from PTU 4.10.1 files, associated with the Day of the Vara.
